Job Description

Sahel Transit Logistics is seeking an experiencedChief Finance Officerto lead the organization’s financial strategy and operations. This is a senior executive role responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic guidance to support the company’s growth across its transit, freight, and cross-border logistics network.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes across the organization
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors
• Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and working capital to support cross-border operations and growth needs
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, customs-related financial obligations, and corporate governance standards
• Oversee management of customs duties, transit guarantees, and bonds
• Lead cost control and efficiency initiatives across transport, warehousing, and freight operations
• Oversee risk management strategies, including financial, operational, fuel price, and currency/foreign exchange risk
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, insurers, investors, and other financial stakeholders
• Lead and develop the finance team, including accounting, treasury, and financial planning functions
• Evaluate and support merger, acquisition, fleet investment, and expansion opportunities where applicable
• Present financial performance and strategic recommendations to the board and senior leadership
• Oversee the implementation and optimization of financial systems and ERP platforms

Required Profile Description

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred)
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, Finance Director, or similar)
• Experience in the logistics, transit, transport, or supply chain industry is a strong advantage
• Strong knowledge of financial strategy, corporate finance, trade finance, and risk management
• Proven track record of managing budgets, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance at a senior level
• Experience with ERP and financial management systems
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent in English; knowledge of French and local languages is an advantage
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic cross-border logistics environment
