The UNDP Sub-Regional Hub for West and Central Africa (WACA) otherwise known as the Dakar Hub is part of the larger Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA) and is situated in Dakar, Senegal. It aims at strengthening resilience and sustainable development in the Sahel and WACA region by accelerating effective implementation of regional initiatives and supporting the 24 UNDP Country Offices in the region. To this effect, the Dakar Hub is well positioned to facilitate partnerships with UN regional representations in the sub-region, Regional Economic Commissions (RECs), regional and sub-regional institutions, research centers and institutes, donor representations, and other international organizations. The Dakar Hub’s offer for the region in spread out into five key areas 1. Governance; 2) Youth; 3) Renewable Energy; 4) Climate Action & 5) Livelihoods, economic recovery, and human mobility in fragile, crisis and post crisis context. Context Africa is considered as the most vulnerable continent to disasters. Recurrent disasters across the continent have caused persistent deterioration of livelihoods, pushing people deeper into poverty and food insecurity, and undermining their resilience to future shocks and stresses, with varying impacts on different social groups such as women, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. The UNDP regional project “Strengthening Capacities for Disaster Risk Reduction and Adaptation for Resilience in the Sahel Region (2019–2026)”, funded by the Government of Sweden, supports seven Sahelian countries in strengthening institutional capacities for riskinformed development planning and recovery preparedness. To support this effort, UNDP seeks an Online Volunteer with strong graphic design skills to format and finalize the layout of strategic documents in English, French and Portuguese. Task Description To ensure that the three versions (English, French, Portuguese) document are professionally designed, visually consistent, and publication ready following UNDP’s and partners corporate branding and layout standards. Under the supervision of the Communications Specialist and in collaboration with the Project’s technical team, the Online Volunteer will: a) Graphic Design and Layout Create visually appealing layouts for the 3 versions using UNDP corporate branding and templates. Format all sections including cover page, table of contents, headings, tables, infographics, figures, boxes, and references. Ensure consistency in design elements across the 3 language versions. b) Infographics and Visual Elements • Improve existing graphics and icons or create new ones where necessary. • Ensure readability, visual hierarchy, and overall design quality. c) File Preparation Deliver the following for each of the 3 language versions: • A final PDF for web • A high resolution PDF for print • The editable source file (InDesign) d) Revision and Finalization Incorporate feedback from UNDP in one revision cycle. Submit finalized, publication ready versions.
